Custom Laminated Glass Solutions
Invented in 1903 by French chemist Édouard Bénédictus, laminated glass started as a simple laboratory accident and ended up as a crucial part of the automotive industry we know today. After hearing about an accident in which two women were severely injured by glass debris, Bénédictus filed a patent to officially produce laminated glass windshields that reduced injuries that were a result of automobile accidents.
Made by “sandwiching” a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer between two glass panes during the manufacturing process, laminated glass is strong, cost-effective and shatter-proof. It is used in multiple industries to keep vehicle occupants safe and out of harm’s way, including in public transportation, construction, the hospitality and retail industries, automobiles and more!
